2013 Competititon Adjudicator announced

The 2013 PANZ Playwriting Competition will be adjudicated by Donna Banicevich-Gera.


Donna is a Wellington based writer. She holds an MA in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting) from the International Institute of Modern Letters, Victoria University of Wellington, a BA (Hons) in English, a Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing, a Certificate in Writing for Documentary, and a Certificate in International Theatre Directing.

Her work has been produced for radio, page, stage, and screen. Her theatre work presented in New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Austria, the USA, Croatia, and Alaska. She has held several overseas artists’ residencies, attended numerous offshore theatre workshops, and presented at international seminars and conferences.

Recent New Zealand productions of her scripts include: ‘Anton’s Women’, ‘Land Without Sunday’s’, ‘Hunterville’, ‘My Name is Ruhi’, ‘Come unto Me’, ‘Baby Face’, and ‘Ella & Will’. In 2009 her play ‘Tarara Child’ won the PANZ playwriting competition.

In addition to her own creative projects, Donna teaches writing at both Victoria University of Wellington and on the Whitireia Polytechnic Creative Writing Programme.  She also runs freelance writing workshops, and is experienced in motivating others to achieve their goals – creatively, academically, and professionally.

Most of all, she is always inspired by exploring the creative power of the imagination.
